About us
The Neurochemistry and Neuroimaging Group belongs to the Physiology Department in the University of La Laguna. This Group carries out both clinical and basic research into neuroscience.
It is an interdisciplinary Group of Research whose main objetive is to conduct high-quality basic research into questions related to clinical and non clinical neurological problems. The main emphasis of the lab's work has been the use of voltammetric, amperometric and optical (fluorescence and spectroscopic) techniques to monitor electrical and chemical activity in the nervous central system.
In long-term, the lab aims to advance towards novel chemical in vivo methods that can rapidly evaluate the action of physiological functions. Ultimately, the lab seeks to understand the regulation of monoamine release and cellular uptake, neurological restoration using electronic methods and new methodologies to study the brain function in pathological and physiological situations.
